Veronica Reeve Christmas Cards

Been a while, yeah? With work and school I've been pretty busy! I've got so many things I want to show you but I'll start from where I left off. The fabulous photographer Veronica Reeve asked me to create 10 custom Christmas card designs for her for the upcoming season. I don't have any of her wonderful images so I'm just posting the cards with some lovely photos that my husband took. They have backs too but I'm just showing the front.

TEE SHIRT PROJECT: Capitol "P"

So, I jumped ahead a bit! I was asked to create the letter P as wedding branding and boy, was it fun! I changed the colors that were originally involved and I was going to stick with my previous color schemes but I just thought this one was so fun and different so I kept it.

Branding Assignment

Here is a logo I designed for one of my classes. I drew it all up by hand, scanned it, then redrew it using the pen tool in illustrator. All in all it was a very enjoyable assignment and I'll be putting up the next stages that it goes through. My next assignments are to create a business card, letterhead, envelope, kit cover, annual report cover, and 2 page spread using this logo. Phew! It's going to be a long semester!

Fiesta Invites!

I created these invites for a good friend of mine. The names & dates have been changed so, sorry, you're not invited. The theme of the party was fiesta so my clever sister Libby helped me come up with this fun idea for the invite! I really love how they turned out.

Kim's Baby Shower

My dear friend Kim Winterton will be the first of my very close friends to have a baby! I created this little onesie (and 2 others) and this coupon for her for a gift. The baby's name is going to be Owen Winterton (not sure on the middle name yet- probably Andrew, after his father) and the initials are the inspiration for the onesie shown. The coupon was printed on watercolor paper so it was nice and heavy (haha, and it was all that we had other than regular paper). So anyway, I am so excited for sweet Kim & Andrew! They'll be the best parents EVER. Congrats kids!!

TEE SHIRT PROJECT: Captiol "H"

It's true. I was no where near close to finishing my floral alphabet before school started. But I'm not giving up! Here is letter H in the same sea-inspired color palette as the letter C. I have drawn up the rest of the alphabet in my notebook- now I just have to computerize them all. So bare with me as I slowly add my letters during school.

Hand-Lettered Birthday Card

Here is a card that I made for my dearest friend, Rachel (Carlson) Benson. Her favorite color is green and she loves nature so I thought I'd incorporate those items. I really love making these cards- I think I'll get some designs together and sell them along with our t-shirts (when we get that up and running). Anyway, Happy Birthday Roche!! Your the best!

Wedding Sign

Here is a wedding sign that I hand-painted for Jessica & Broc's wedding. I also created their invitations and you can see them here. It was really fun to work on a larger-scale lettering project! I hope to do more signage in the future.

Wedding Calligraphy

So here's a look at what I've been working on lately. Black ink on white envelopes in a style that was traditional but with some little flourishes added. It was so fun to work on these envelopes!! And I got to watch loads of Parking Wars while doing so, so that was fun.

Here's the bride & groom's special envelope:

Fun Gift: Calligraphed Book Cover

My brilliant sister, Libby thought up this adorable idea. Why not add a little flare and keepsake value to your next gift? Get an awesome book that relates to the person you're gifting to and then put a fun calligraphed inscription inside! Here are a few examples of wedding gifts that Libby and I have put together:

The book I wrote in for this one was "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein... always a lovely choice. Such a special story.

The book for this inscription was "This is San Francisco" by M. Sasek. This book and the all others by this author/illustrator are ADORABLE. Excellent book choices. Unfortunately I took this picture with my not-so-great camera in very low light so it's a bit blurry but you get the idea.

TEE SHIRT PROJECT: Capitol "G"

I don't know why but this letter took me FOREVER. I am so relieved that I get to move on to letter H!

Hand Lettered Congrats

I made this card to go along with a wedding shower gift for my wonderful friend, Natalie Stubbs... soon to be Natalie Kreek! It was such a joy to work on knowing that it was for such a special occasion. Congratulations Nat!

TEE SHIRT PROJECT: Capitol "F"

I finished off this letter whilst watching Emma and eating watermelon, such a pleasant combination of activities.

TEE SHIRT PROJECT: Capitol "E"

Done with E, finally. Phew! I'm going to bed!

TEE SHIRT PROJECT: Capitol "D"

Here's capital "D". For this letter I decided to use some of the inspiration from nature that I find on my daily walks. I'm going to try to knock out "E" tonight as well so I'm off to work on it!

TEE SHIRT PROJECT: Least Like a Wolf

This is one of the more comedic t-shirt designs that we'll be offering... The concept behind this shirt comes from Michael's side of the family. They have a bit of an obsession with pitiful little dogs (and now I do too!) and having had 3 chihuahuas in their family, many funny little doggy jokes have come up. One of those being that those poor little things are the one breed of canine that is "Least Like a Wolf".

Hence, this design:

P.S. Notice the tooth?

TEE SHIRT PROJECT: Capital "C"

Here's the letter C and my third color scheme. I'm going to try to bust out more than one a day so I can get this thing going but we'll just have to see whether or not that actually happens, procrastinator that I am.

Hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!

TEE SHIRT PROJECT: Capitol "B"

Here is my second letter. I got a lot of inspiration for this one from the pretty flowers around Salt Lake. Some were weeds but I thought they were just as pretty. I want to try to use different flowers and colors for each design but I'm guessing I'll have to duplicate some of them at some point. Just 24 more to go!

TEE SHIRT PROJECT: Capitol "A"

Yes, it's true. I have been a total and complete slacker to this blog. Today I decided that if was going to continue on this blogging journey I'd need to update a few things. Hence, the new look!

Anyway, for this post I am highlighting my first installment, of many, for my & Michael's tee shirt project. We are developing a bunch of fun designs that we'll be printing onto American Apparel quality tee shirts (they are really great!) and we'll be selling them on Etsy. I'll let you know when the shop is ready!

The printing process is really quite fun! We'll be using sublimation printing. Unlike screenprinting, the ink will actually dye the shirt instead of sitting on top of it. So it will have zero hand feel, which I personally love. I'm so excited about it!

So anyway, until then, I'll be posting my ideas as I get them done.
